This document records receipt of 10,150 Pounds in "old Continental Bills of Credit" to satisfy a debt in a dispute between Cornelius Jones of Hatfield, Massachusetts, and John Williams, Simeon Harvey and Joseph Stebbins of Deerfield. Galloping inflation and depreciation meant that the value of Continental currency issued later in the war held less value than earlier emissions. This receipt therefore distinguished between earlier and later Continental currency.
