A hereditary society founded by General Henry Knox and other officers of the Continental Army of the United States near the end of the American Revolution. Named after the Roman military hero Cincinnatus,membership is restricted to male descendants of former commissioned officers who served in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. The society continues to exist today. Each officer may be represented by only one descendant a a time.
